a lady of business

I am so pleased to announce that I will be starting a short business course this month. I applied a few weeks ago and got my confirmation last week. It's aimed at women who have 'just an idea' to start their own small business of any sort or style. They have 6 full days over 3 weeks, with different seminars and lessons in business development. They discuss finance, planning, motivation etc and get you to start branding your business and presenting it to others.

Its a brilliant opportunity and once you complete the course you are offered 6 one-to-one appointments with experienced business people and are giving access to networking events. Plus if you are eligible for the course its all free! The course is run by Leicester Business Women who are encouraging women to follow dreams and have the confidence to do their own thing.

I have quite big business plans myself but for now I want to start fairly small and have plans to do a few craft fairs and trade at a Vintage fair or two in the near future. I'm starting to design and make a selection of homewares, textiles and furniture through the alter-ego brand C.C. Homemaker. These products will always be unique as they are based on being resourceful, updating the old and recycling things that usually go to waste and hopefully providing affordable items to suit vintage, retro and eclectic home styles.

So, on the products side, I have recently filled up my tool box, invested in some hardwearing paints. Im currently developing some homemade cushions and trying to source some more unique fabrics. I'm also learning how to do some quality hand printing for a range of tea towels.

On the business side of things, I'm trying to develop a brand, I want to make a banner for my blog and will be making some business cards soon. I don't like the term 'business' it sounds to serious and money-grabbing. This is a genuine interest and hobby of mine that I hope other people would appreciate but my intentions aren't trying to make lots of money. Thats why I will be showing you how you can do all these things yourself via my blog.

If you would like to know more please email me at cchomemaker.info@gmail.com and follow my blog for updates x
