my kitchen: open shelving

I have only done a little decorating around the house and wanted to start mainly with the kitchen. So after a general tidy up, I got down to work putting together my ikea shelving. I love this shelf unit its perfect and not too big or overpowering. I bought it for extra storage and to utilize the space. 


Anyway this is how i've done so far...

Those Cath Kidston style placemats I got for 69p (pack of 4) from a charity shop. I loved them but wouldn't actually use it for my dinner table. I like stacking my tea towels rather than putting them in a drawer and will be making some myself soon can't wait. The rest are just storage jars and mixing bowls. Im sure it will look nicer when I have some more food staples.
